My element is Scandium, it’s atomic number is 21. It is found in Scandinavia and is rare. It was discovered in 1879 by Lars Fredrik Nilson but it's existence was predicted ten years prior.
That is where I got the idea for my plate. Since Scandium has very few uses it was difficult to find a design I was happy with. I made the plate with a linoleum square and some fancy artist cutting tools. Making the print was at first difficult because I didn't realize it would be easier to cut the plate while it was warm. But once I discovered that, it was easy. I just had to be careful not to cut into the positive space. To make the print, I rolled ink on to the plate then pressed it onto a piece of paper with a spoon. My favorite part was carving my design. If I could do this again I would make a different design that was more interesting.
